Scientists from the University of Medical Sciences in Iran formed two groups and each group was consisted of 44 women who experienced weight problems. During 3 months, the two groups were advised about healthy nutrition and according to the menu, they ate 500 calories less per day. The first group of respondents ate 3 grams of powdered cumin per day mixed with 140 grams of yogurt. The second group consumed the same amount of yogurt without the cumin. After three months, the women who consumed both yogurt and cumin lost around 14 kilograms as opposed to the respondents who did not ate cumin. The conducted research is even more impressive if we take into consideration the fact that the participants from the first group lost 14, 64% more fat than those from the second group who lost 4, 91 % fat. The reason why the participants lost weight is due to the fact that cumin is rich in fitosterol- a chemical plant known for its prevention of cholesterol retention in the body. Scientists consider that this is the main reason why cumin speeds up the metabolism. If you want to begin consuming cumin it does not mean that you need to add it in yogurt solely, but in other meals as well. Spices are easily mixed and improve the taste of almost every meal.
